"In fulfilling its educational mission, the LSU Hospital in Shreveport provides graduate medical education programs for physicians in specialty training and serves as a primary site for clinical education programs for the medical students and allied health students of LSU Health Sciences Center. Similarly, the hospital is active in both continuing education programs for practicing physicians and research, essential elements in accomplishing its mission. In continued pursuit of its mission, the teaching hospital should contribute to the advancement of the knowledge base of contemporary medicine by providing an important setting for clinical research and for initial application of new diagnostic and treatment methods."
